Students
What to expect as a student?
At Shrewsbury Academy, our ethos “achievement through caring”, embodies the holistic approach we take to supporting students, so that they may achieve in all aspects of their development. We aim to enhance their life chances for the future by providing tailored support throughout your time in school.
We endeavour to ensure that students and parents have access to independent advice and guidance (IAG), whenever required, to assist with making important academic or career decisions. Mr Rogers is our dedicated teacher in charge of careers. A referral for an appointment can be made either through the students form tutor or by emailing [email protected]
Guidance meetings
A careers guidance interview is an impartial, one-to-one meeting between yourself and a professionally qualified Careers Adviser (Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance & Development). A guidance interview can last up to 45 minutes. A careers guidance interview is not like a job interview – there are no right or wrong answers. These appointments usually happen in year 11, but you can request one earlier.
Curriculum
Through PHSE, lessons and dedicated careers events, you will gain lots of information. We are committed to delivering high quality content, which will inform decisions and allow you to have experience of workplaces and further education.
